Devine Power is a Washington, DC youth empowerment program. Girls ages 13–17 build confidence, real skills, and sisterhood through hands-on workshops and inspiring mentors. Our Gen Z career readiness track prepares young people ages 14–29 for work and life.

We are more than a program.
We are a sisterhood.
Devine Power exists to help girls discover their confidence, build their skills, and step into their power. We do it through education, hands-on experience, and the support of a community that believes in them.
Our Mission
We empower young women to become better versions of themselves by teaching self-confidence, emotional intelligence, professionalism, sisterhood, and career readiness. Entrepreneurship, esthetics, fashion, hair, and etiquette are how we bring those lessons to life.

Who We Serve
Young women ages 13–17 in Washington, DC, in cohorts of about 13 girls, plus young people ages 14–29 in our Gen Z career readiness track. We partner with schools, recreation centers, and youth employment programs to reach young people where they are.
Our Impact
- Girls have launched their own hair businesses with ongoing mentor support

Many of the young people we serve carry a lot outside the classroom. A licensed mental health professional works directly with our participants, so every girl has support beyond the workshop table.
M. Howard founded Devine Power to give DC girls something every young woman deserves: a room full of people who believe in her, and the real skills to back that belief up.
She leads every cohort alongside licensed beauty professionals, entrepreneurs, and mental health experts, and she partners directly with schools and community organizations to bring the program to the girls who need it most.

Brooklyn, Cohort 2
Brooklyn always knew she could do hair. Ponytails, cornrow braids, knotless braids: she had the talent. What she needed was the structure to turn that talent into something real.
Through Devine Power, Brooklyn worked with a mentor to build the foundation of her brand and learned what it takes to go from doing hair to running a business. She developed her brand identity, learned the basics of entrepreneurship, and launched TheSalonAmorr, her very own hair business.
Today Brooklyn is not just a girl who does hair. She is a young entrepreneur, and she is just getting started.

Girls ages 13–17Summer Intensive Refinement & Leadership Bootcamp
Our most immersive program. Daily summer sessions designed to transform young women from the inside out.
- Beauty and fashion: esthetics, skincare, makeup, waxing, lashes, hair, Black hair care, sewing
- Self-love and boundaries: affirmations, journaling, workshops
- Workforce development and entrepreneurship: goal-setting and career readiness

School-Year Cohort: Professional Foundations
Our signature program. Weekly sessions, either one hour during lunch or two hours after school, give girls a consistent, supportive space to grow all year.

Cohort 1: Spring 2025 (January to June)
Our very first cohort ran for six months, and the results were beyond anything we imagined. Girls showed up, opened up, and grew in ways that moved us to tears.

Cohort 2: Summer 2025
Our second cohort was something special. Through the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program, our girls got paid to participate, because their time and growth are valuable. And they showed up and showed out.

- Titiyanna created her own hair business
- Bre'Ann learned how to braid and do cornrows
- Romiyah discovered a natural talent for feed-in braids
